Welcome to my NEW Photoshop Tips Section. After realizing that my Photoshop Tips pages took longer to load than any other section on my site, I knew I had to do something different.  So for the first tip, I have literately cut the size of my images in half.  The warning
in the banner still applies ( if  you are using Dial-up Internet), but . . . the way I was doing it sometimes took 5 minutes or longer. (On Dial-up.)  Since I started this site when I was still on dial-up, I understand how frustrating that can be.  So my goal for the new year is to make this section much more user friendly to all internet users.

Better Photo Tips | Photoshop Photo 2 Step 1:  Open up a graphic you want to
 use.

Better Photo Tips | Photoshop Photo 3  Step Two:  Since this original is 5x7 we
need to shrink it to a size we can use. Go
to "Image" (Arrow A) open it and go
down to "Image Size" and click once.
There you want to change the height to
1.5 inches (Arrow B).  Because the width
and height are linked (Arrow C) the
Width will automatically change to 2.1
  inches.

Better Photo Tips | Photoshop Photo 4Step Three:  To create the banner part,
(note: we are making a larger than normal
banner.) go to "File" (Arrow A).  Open it
and go down to "New".  Change the
pixels to inches (Arrow B).  Since this is
a new project the dimensions are NOT
linked like above.  You need to change
both the width and the height (Arrow C)
  to 1.5 x 8 inches.

Better Photo Tips | Photoshop Photo 5  Step Four:  After you have created the
new blank banner (Arrow B), simply left
click on your image (Arrow A) and while
holding that left button down, drag it into
position. To change the background color,
click on the paint bucket icon (Arrow C),
select the color you want to use, and then
click on the area you want to fill. (You are
changing the white area to black.)
Note:  You will only see one banner on
your screen, I used two here just for
  illustration.

Better Photo Tips | Photoshop Photo 6  Step Five:  Once you have your image
and the right color, it is time to add the
text.  Click on the Text icon (Arrow A)
and this will bring up its own menu options
across the top.  Here you can change the
size (Arrow B) and color (Arrow C) of
your Text.  Once you have the message
you want go up to "Layers" (Arrow D)
open it and go down to "Flatten Image".
  Then you go to "File" and "Save As";
save the file under a new name.
